Vancouver is the perfect place to live! It's close to the beach, the mountains, fishing, hiking, and yet just across the river from Portland, Oregon, the second largest metro area in the Northwest. There you'll find everything that a large city has to offer, with the best of culture, dining and entertainment.
Here in Washington, we don't have a state income tax, and property assessments aren't quite as high as Oregon, so you can often get more for your money. Clark County has many very affordable homes and acreage that are within reasonable driving distance to Vancouver or Portland.
The fact that Clark County is leading Washington State's rapid growth is no surprise. Newcomers will find a cosmopolitan urban setting, as well as rustic countryside. The housing mix is as diverse as the county itself from high-rise condominiums and water front estates to country acreages with room to roam or raise farm animals.
Because of the way that we fund our schools, highs and lows in the quality of education seem to be non-existent. With services available from award-winning schools with higher education opportunities to a medical center rated in the top 100 in the nation, Clark county residents can expect the finest public services the state of Washington has to offer.
You may wonder how we got some of the strange names in our community. If so, check out the web site featured below the text on this page. It is a site that has fascinating answers about our local names and a little history too.
Visit our Map & Links page, When You Have Time Off page and Neighborhoods page to check out interesting web sites about Clark County and Vancouver, including Battleground, Ridgefield, Camas, Washougal, and Portland. And don't forget to take a visual tour of the area via our Photo Gallery.
Everyone loves the Pacific Northwest... Well, it does rain a bit, but without that it just wouldn't be the beautiful place we enjoy. When you first move here, you carry an umbrella - after a while you only use one for special occasions.
We enjoy both Oregon and Washington Coasts which are just a couple of hours away. Deep sea fishing, watching the sunset on the beach, reading and walking and checking out every little nook and cranny.
Now that the cruise ships are coming into Astoria, it's becoming a pretty popular city with some incredible views, a trolley along the waterfront and excellent Happy Hours.
Seaside seems like it is always busy with lots of things to do for the kids like arcades and such (although there seem to be plenty of adults there, too) and for some reason, someone is always playing volleyball on the beach. Holidays find the city filled with tourists and locals alike.
Cannon Beach is just a beautiful little town - lots of artists, sculptors, good food, trendy shops and the Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center is also a popular place to live and learn.
