Scott Mikel website: www.agentmikel.com email: scott@agentmikel.com
Leaving the comfort and security of a large real estate brokerage was Scott’s brainchild. There is a particular psyche that feels the overwhelming desire to make things better, bigger, smaller, or just different. Scott owns that trait. Armed with the understanding that no one gets out of here alive he is determined that the real estate process, though extremely important, need not be extremely stressful or distressful for that matter. The mission is about extreme customer care and he takes that seriously. Agents, who work at Scott Mikel & Associates, are hired first for their integrity and then their desire to serve their customers. |
Sam Mikel
website: www.agentmikel.com email: sam@agentmikel.com
Sam has been selling real estate in Clark County since 1977. She is the only one of us who’s past life is also Real Estate. Seldom does a real estate situation arise that Sam has not either dealt with personally or has taken a class on. Sam is a dedicated customer service provider and always provides her clients with extras like invites to church or Clark County Newcomers. She has achieved many milestones and awards over the years including “most professional” three times over. She is also a shareholder in our company by virtue of the fact that she is married to the broker. After many years in real estate, and working alongside wonderful agents – and frankly – horrible agents – the time finally came when we just said, “We can do it better” and we have every reason to believe we are. Our customers love our company and our agents. What more can one ask? |

Carrie Weaks email: carrie@agentmikel.com
Carrie has been with Scott Mikel & Associates since the doors opened. As a Broker and our Office Manager, she cares (and worries) about each agent as though she were personally responsible for everything they do. Carrie's attention to detail makes her methodical and thorough in all of her negotiations and business transactions. Her customer care techniques are extraordinary, no wonder she has the gift of 'service'. There are few of us in this industry who haven't had prior careers and Carrie is no exception. Carrie was a hair stylist in her past life and "oops!" was one word she excluded from her vocabulary. With her variety of skills, she is probably one of the few people that can make you a mocha, cut your hair and sell you a house at the same time. :) In her "spare" time she enjoys making jewelry, shopping, doing anything 'creative', time with family and 'Tia' (her chihuahua). |

Penny is just one cool lady! She’s got “attitude sparkle” that you’ll love. You will soon know she’s there for you at all costs and at all times! Part of that caring nature probably comes from working in the hospital industry for 20 years plus 7 years in the Vancouver education system prior to real estate. She’s always excited to embrace something new and to show us “what she just learned!” Besides nursing, Penny has Co-led a Women’s Ministry for a church of 3000, taught Women’s Bible study, she has been a guest speaker for women’s groups, Volunteer Counselor and currently leads local networking groups. She has a particular passion for helping first-time home buyers. Penny fits well into the family orientated Scott Mikel & Associates, appreciates the one-on-one mentoring. She is a wonderful addition to the company w/ her wonderful attitude, work ethic and attention to detail that is just part of who she is.

Tina Coad email: tina@agentmikel.com
Many years ago we had the distinct privilege of working with Tina Coad at Prudential NW Properties and found her determination to be second to none. When you want someone to rally around you, be your best cheerleader and get so excited “for you” she can hardly stand it, you want Tina. She’s cute, funny, an incredible agent, and someone you would trust to work with your child or your parents. She will take care of them all equally well. With a definite get-it-done attitude Tina is a breath of fresh air to work with. Whether buying or selling Tina will lose sleep until your real estate transaction is signed, sealed and delivered. She co-chaired 2009’s Downtown Cleanup organizing hundreds of volunteers to clean, sweep, prune, and just generally cleanup downtown Vancouver. It was such a success, she agreed to Chair it for 2010. I know she’d love your help…she insists on ours! |
Mae Robertson
website: www.maesellsvancouver.com email: mae@agentmikel.com
When you meet Mae, you’ll soon see why she may become both your friend AND your Realtor. Mae is one of those people who can get along with just about everyone … which is way more important in this business than anyone realizes… She understands the importance of confidentiality and loyalty and listening. Mae diligently embraces the technology Scott Mikel & Associates is known for and is always taking “one more class” to help her remain at the forefront of the industry to serve her customers with the best service she can give. She believes that the true meaning of personal service often becomes very personal and requires a level of understanding and support that can only come from the heart. In her spare time (J), she is the Secretary of the 300+ member Clark County Newcomers Club, cleans and shops for her church, and is Chair of the Community Service Committee for the Lewis River Rotary Club – and just wishing for time to cook, garden, decorate, walk/hike, read and shop! |

Valinda Beasley website: www.valindabeasley.com email: valinda@nwlink.com
Valinda came to real estate in 1998 after 20 years in business management and training. Even though Scott Mikel & Associates is a small company, the reputation in clark County says they're big on ethics and a leader in virtual technology. As one of the four Brokers in the company, she is always willing to lend a helping hand and advise as how to handle difficult situations in real estate... which come up much more often than most people realize. In most circles she’s known as the “bird lady”. If it has wings & fly’s she either has it in her home or outdoor bird sanctuary. Her love for our feathered friends always means a beautiful birdhouse or feeder for all her clients. Beyond her own backyard lies the real passion that her unsuspecting friends, family & clients didn’t see coming….she’s a Harley Girl. Yes, on a sunny day you’ll find her riding her own Road King with a grin from here to Kansas. Sometimes husband, Phillip, is riding too--of course trying to keep up with that gal! |
Gretchen Skeaton
website: www.skeatonrealestate.com email: greatchenskeaton@comcast.net
Gretchen is the one we talk to about logic, numbers, and "does it make sense." With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology and a Masters Degree in Management, she has the tools to get everything done, in the right way, and at the right time - and on time! She's insists on understanding the "why" we do anything we do in real estate...and that's a very god thing for the customers-and she explains every detail-if you want it. If you want someone that will help you make sense of real estate in today's crazy world, Gretchen is the one to help you make logical & prudent decisions. She loves statistics & is perfect for those of you who do, too. She will provide necessary information to help you make informed decisions on probably one of the largest financial and most important decisions of your life. Plus, you'll just love her! In her "spare" time, she loves to dance, she's an avid football fan & sings with the "Touch of Class" Choir.

Closing or Settlement >Walk Through Woes
Buyers can be a little cranky on closing day if things go wrong during the walk-through inspection. For example, the sellers' dependable old dishwasher might stop midway through its cycle and the bathroom sink might clog unexpectedly. These situations can create anxiety for the buyers and sellers, but such problems are quite common and usually simple to resolve.
Most purchase agreements require that the major mechanical systems and the appliances being conveyed are in working order at the time of the closing. Defects are often discovered during the structural inspection, allowing the sellers plenty of time to have the repairs made. Occasionally there are last-minute breakdowns or defects that are not spotted until the walk-through inspection. In that case, an agreement can be made with the sellers at the closing to escrow funds for the repair or replacement of the items in question.
